It’s a great time for sports fans to be in the Bay Area, Dub Nation! The Valkyries won their first WNBA title on Halloween night at Chase Center and paraded the trophy down the Embarcadero yesterday. Their older siblings the Golden State Warriors have won five straight. And tonight, the building that just hosted a championship celebration hosts the Miami Heat and a quasi homecoming for a guy who earned a few of those parades himself. Wassup, Klay Thompson!
The Warriors remember the last time Miami came to Chase. Jimmy Butler went down with a torn ACL that night, and he’s still out tonight, along with Kristaps Porzingis, Moses Moody and Gui Santos.

Yesterday while San Francisco was sweeping violet confetti off the Embarcadero, Klay Thompson was in Inglewood remembering exactly who he is. He dropped 30 on 8-of-17 from deep to cap a 20-point comeback over the Clippers. Down two in overtime, Giannis grabbed a defensive rebound with 3.8 seconds left, Miami called timeout, and on the ensuing inbound Giannis found Klay open in the left corner off a Bam screen for the walk-off three. Per a stat making the rounds, it was the first game-winning three of Klay’s career in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or OT, regular season and playoffs. Klay’s got four rings, 37 points in a quarter, Game 6 in OKC, and yet the walk-off three was the one trinket missing from the shelf.
The Warriors he’s coming back to look nothing like the team that started 0-3. They’ve since beaten the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Lakers, Clippers and Suns, including the Clippers win with both Steph and Draymond sitting out, and Monday’s win over Phoenix came after trailing by 17.

The South Beach super team rolls out Davion Mitchell, Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. Wiggins also won a title with the Warriors back in 2022 and got into the parade action; he joins Klay on the walk to the familiar arena.
Miami’s journey so far hasn’t been smooth. Miami lost its first four before winning…
