The Kentucky Wildcats basketball team will begin SEC Tournament play on Wednesday against the LSU Tigers after losing their final two games and missing out on a bye. That means in order to win their first conference tourney since 2018, they’ll have to win five games in five days.
Though they have a tough task in front of them, the Wildcats did get some good news on Tuesday. The final availability report before the game had a pleasant surprise, listing forward Kam Williams as “probable” for the game.

Williams has been out since late in January with a broken foot. He has been one of three starting players who missed all, or most of, SEC play. His absence has certainly been felt. He was one of Kentucky’s best three point shooters, and with him out, it became easier to focus on Collin Chandler for opposing defenses.
A “probable” designation means Williams has a 75% chance of playing against the Tigers. His minutes will likely be limited, but in the big picture, it means that he should be 100% heading into March Madness. His numbers aren’t gaudy at just 7 points per game. However, his athleticism and his ability to affect both ends of the floor could be huge. His return is something Big Blue Nation should be very excited about.
