Florida’s Kiyomi McMiller lands on ESPN’s top 50 players list

In today’s collegiate sports landscape, turnover is common, and Florida women’s basketball enters the 2026-27 season with a new head coach and several new faces, but one Gator has already earned national recognition.

ESPN released its top-50 women’s college basketball player rankings, with Florida guard Kiyomi McMiller at No. 40.

The Penn State transfer is the lone Gator on the list, which features some of the nation’s most established collegiate stars.

McMiller arrives in Gainesville following an impressive sophomore campaign with the Nittany Lions, where she averaged 21.6 points, five rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The dynamic guard started 26 of 29 appearances, establishing herself as one of the nation’s most productive and efficient scorers.

Her collegiate career began at Rutgers, where she experienced a challenging freshman season, averaging 18.7 points before transferring to Penn State. Despite questions surrounding her fit within previous programs, McMiller’s offensive production has never been in doubt.

McMiller’s talent is evident as she transitions to Florida, where she has a chance to establish herself under first-year head coach Tammi Reiss.

Individual success won’t be the problem. Two games into her Gator career, she is averaging 36.5 points, six rebounds, and 3.5 assists, while shooting 56% from the field and 50% from 3-point range.

In her last outing against UCF, she recorded 42 points on 70% shooting from distance.

South Carolina led the nation with five players in ESPN’s rankings, while UConn, LSU and Maryland followed.

For McMiller, the No. 40 ranking provides an early indication of the expectations surrounding her arrival in Gainesville. With a new coaching staff and the chance to compete against some of the nation’s top programs, the Florida guard will have plenty of opportunities to improve her standing while helping establish a new identity for Coach Reiss’s program.
