Syracuse Basketball: Key Player Out with Injury vs. Central Connecticut State

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team will be without the services of guard Aiden Tobiason on Thursday night when it takes on Central Connecticut State at the JMA Wireless Dome (7 p.m. ET).

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports had the report. Tobiason is still battling a hamstring strain that he suffered in the exhibition opener against the UConn Huskies on Oct. 13.

Tobiason, a junior, is a transfer in from Temple who has joined the Orange program this season under new head coach Gerry McNamara.

As a freshman in 2024-25, Tobiason started 22 games while appearing in 27. He averaged 4.8 ppg before taking another step in 2025-26. He scored 15.3 ppg for the Owls while also averaging 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He shot 33.8 percent from 3-point range and is a 35.8 percent shooter from deep in his two years.

He has three years of eligibility left for the Orange.

The Orange lost Donnie Freeman, Tyler Betsey and Naithan George to the transfer portal and saw Nate Kingz graduate. All four of those players were solid shooters, so the Orange are counting on Tobiason to help stretch the defense.

Beyond Marano, the team will just need better shooting outputs from Kiyan Anthony, Dual and Amarri Monroe. None of those three…
