Men’s college basketball national championship odds for 2026-2027: Duke, Florida are title favorites heading into season

The calendar just flipped to November, which means that college basketball season has arrived. Last season ended with the Michigan Wolverines taking down UConn 69-63 in the national championship. The Wolverines were the No. 1 seed in the 2026 NCAA tournament and won five of their six tourney games by double digits.

This season, oddsmakers expect other teams to be in the mix. The top two teams in the AP Top 25 — the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils and No. 1 Florida Gators — stand out as the two clear favorites entering the season at sportsbooks at +600 odds at BetMGM. No other teams have single-digit odds to cut down the nets.

The Blue Devils have the most wagers (12.1%) and total dollars wagered (20.9%) at BetMGM sportsbooks, while Florida is third in both categories. Duke has more than double the money wagered on it to win it all as any other team. The Blue Devils add star recruit Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje to an impressive team with Patrick Ngongba II and Caleb Foster already on it.

UConn (11-1), Illinois (12-1), Michigan State (18-1) and Texas (18-1) have the next-best odds. Michigan is tied for the 13th-best odds at 30-1 after losing head coach Dusty May to the NBA, along with stars Yaxel Lendeborg and Aday Mara.

Odds for a few other notable teams include: Arizona (20-1), Houston (25-1), John Calipari’s Arkansas (25-1), Gonzaga (35-1), North Carolina (50-1), Purdue (60-1) and Wisconsin (150-1).

Unranked LSU is one team that has seen a lot of odds movement, as the Tigers opened at 150-1 and have been bet all the way down to 40-1. The Tigers currently represent the biggest national championship liability at BetMGM sportbsooks.
