A college basketball blue-blood program, Kentucky will open its season at home with a matchup against Manhattan on Tuesday.

Entering a second season under head coach Mark Pope, Kentucky has high expectations for this year. Kentucky’s team will be anchored by sophomore Malachi Moreno, who is returning to the program after withdrawing from the 2026 NBA Draft. Transfer additions such as Zoom Diallo, Frank Kepnang and Justin McBride should make this team dangerous.

Manhattan will face an extremely tough challenge in this non-conference matchup. The Jaspers have had an unsteady tenure in the MAAC, sailing to a 17-win campaign in 2024-25, but then dropping to a 12-20 record last year. This season will be pivotal for coach John Gallagher’s job security.
