It’s an early Western Conference Semifinals rematch tonight in San Antonio, where the Spurs take on the Timberwolves, who will be missing Anthony Edwards for a good part of this season as he needed to get knee surgery shortly after scoring 133 points in his first four games of the season. The Timberwolves are still formidable without his 33 point average, with Lamelo Ball and and Jaden McDaniels picking up a lot of the scoring slack. That worked out well enough last night for the Wolves to rout the Clippers 127-101 and take a 1-0 lead in their NBA Cup group. None of that matters to the Spurs right now, since they’re in a different group and haven’t played a Cup game yet.

The three guard lineup has gotten mixed reviews, but as some of the PTR writers discussed a few days ago, sometime it takes time for these kinds of things to gel. Tobias Harris still hasn’t made his Spurs debut, and that could end up changing the outlook a bit going forward. My opinion that any NBA game played while there are still pumpkins on the porch is to early to take much from, win or lose, because the teams aren’t anywhere near where they will be in the springtime.
