Arizona State has finally closed the deal on bringing Randy Bennett’s star forward at Saint Mary’s over to Tempe from the college basketball transfer portal. The Sun Devils landed their biggest addition of the offseason by officially inking Paulius Murauskas.

Murauskas has been one of the top players in the transfer portal since its opening and remained linked to the Devils throughout, due to his connection to Bennett. He made the move official on Tuesday, On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos reported.

Murauskas was a first-team All-WCC forward in his two years with the Gaels and was the conference’s 2025 Newcomer of the Year. He ended the 2025-2026 season as the second-leading scorer in the league with averages of 18.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

The Lithuanian is now onto his third school after beginning his college basketball career at Arizona. Murauskas hit the 2024 transfer portal after finding minutes difficult to come by while playing behind Motiejus Krivas, Oumar Ballo and Keshad Johnson.

Murauskas’ decision helps Arizona State offset the loss of star center Massamba Diop, who entered the portal shortly after Bobby Hurley’s firing. Diop is the second-best center in the transfer class on 247 Sports and On3 Sports.

At the time of his commitment, Murauskas is surprisingly the only former Saint Mary’s player to follow Bennett to Arizona State from the college basketball transfer portal.

Bennett’s lack of followers has not mattered, as the veteran head coach has already secured several key commitments from the transfer portal.
