Kentucky basketball took a massive College Basketball Transfer Portal loss Monday. UK just watched Southeastern Conference rival LSU swipe away Mouhamed Dioubate in stunning fashion.

The SEC foe wins the Dioubate sweepstakes, with Joe Tipton of On3/Rivals reporting the move. The now former UK big rises as the first portal addition in Will Wade’s return to the Tigers.

Baton Rouge entered the picture late for Dioubate, though. Virginia showed up early on for the big man. Then St. John’s delivered an aggressive push to land Dioubate, especially presenting him with a chance to come home. The frontcourt star hails from Queens, NY, which is home to the Red Storm.

But now Dioubate pulls the stunner by sticking with the SEC. Accept he’ll suit up for an LSU team itching to get back into March Madness by turning back to Wade.

UK has put together one portal win despite Monday’s result. Head coach Mark Pope and UK grabbed Washington star Zoom Dallo on Wednesday. The Wildcats in turn gained a shooter who averaged 15.7 points per game last season. Dallo’s addition boosts the backcourt moving forward in Lexington.

Yet Kentucky received one other offseason loss via the portal. Longtime target Rob Wright chose to return to BYU after being linked to the Wildcats. Now losing Dioubate to a conference rival will ruffle some fan feathers in the Bluegrass State.

Kentucky didn’t just lose out on Dioubate. UK also started Monday landing in the running for Syracuse transfer Donnie Freeman. But he chose Big East rival St. John’s nearly an hour after the Dioubate move.
