The Duke Blue Devils have begun practice as the 2026-27 college basketball season approaches and the anticipation is high. For Duke, they will once again be one of the favorites to win it all.
But they have earned that.

Head coach Jon Scheyer has been great since taking over for Coach K, reaching the Elite Eight three times and the Final Four once. It’s the heartbreaking losses that are remembered the most, unfortunately.
As the game of college basketball has changed, Scheyer and the Blue Devils have adapted to it. The latest being a new streaming deal with Amazon that gave them exclusive rights for games this season. It’s already caused a bit of a stir with a potential matchup with Michigan for the upcoming season, but it’s expected to be a good thing for the program.
Scheyer was a guest on Jon Rothstein’s podcast “Inside College Basketball Now” recently and he talked about the Duke-Amazon partnership. He explained how it got started by telling Rothstein that Duke is always looking for ways for exposure for the program.
With the game evolving, you always have to be a step ahead to get that exposure and Scheyer credited the program for getting a deal done quickly. The main goal, according to Scheyer, is to help players get more exposure from an NIL perspective as well.

As long as Duke can continue to stay a step ahead, they could cash in not only on this deal but more down the future. The only issues could be the broadcast rights for the conferences, which is why the Michigan game had to be postponed.
For Scheyer, the mindset he has about taking a leap into something and being one of the first to get this streaming deal is a big bonus. They can now use even a few games a year as a way to promote their program and players. That’s an added benefit as well in recruiting and offering up that potential for targets.
