Auburn forward Sebastian Williams-Adams to transfer within the SEC

Freshman forward Sebastian Williams-Adams has found a new home one day after entering the transfer portal.

Williams-Adams decided to depart Auburn on Monday after spending one season on the Plains following the news of the Tigers’ signing of former Troy forward Thomas Dowd, and quickly found a new program. Joe Tipton of On3 reports that Williams-Adams is staying within the SEC and will transfer to Vanderbilt.

Williams-Adams originally planned to return to Auburn for his sophomore season, which would have solidified a solid returning core with Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton playing alongside him. However, he shifted gears after a busy Monday that saw Auburn land former Creighton forward Owen Freeman and Troy forward Thomas Dowd. Steven Pearl has also explored adding South Alabama forward Adam Olsen, which makes the forward slot crowded and will undoubtedly create competition ahead of the season.

In his lone season in Auburn, Williams-Adams averaged 7.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, shooting 50.5% from the field. Williams-Adams appeared in 38 games for Auburn during the 2025-26 season, and started 21 of those games. He reached the 10-point mark in 10 games this season, including his collegiate debut, where he scored a season-high 15 points in Auburn’s overtime win over Bethune-Cookman at Neville Arena. He met the mark again in the second round of the NIT, going 6-for-6 in Auburn’s win over Seattle U.

Williams-Adams joins Elyjah Freeman in transferring to a fellow SEC program. Filip Jovic committed to UCLA shortly after Auburn’s NIT Championship win, while guard Kaden Magwood remains in the transfer portal. So far in the cycle, Auburn has added a few big men in Bukky Oboye (Santa Clara), Owen Freeman (Creighton), and Thomas Dowd (Troy).
