Braylon Mullins arguably had the one shining moment of the 2026 NCAA tournament. He’ll return to UConn for an opportunity to earn some more next season.
Mullins has decided not to declare for the NBA Draft and will stick with the Huskies for his sophomore season, he announced via Instagram on Saturday.
Mullins’ father also confirmed his son is returning to UConn on his social media account.

The 6-foot-6 guard established a place in March Madness immortality with his buzzer-beating shot from the half-court logo that gave UConn a miraculous 73-72 win over Duke and put the Huskies into the Final Four for the third time in four seasons.
Mullins was viewed as a first-round pick had he left UConn. Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor projected him as the No. 15 overall selection in his latest mock draft.
However, he is almost certain to improve his standing among NBA scouts and evaluators by showing he can create his own shot while continuing to improve his defense during his sophomore campaign. His NIL earnings could also be more rewarding than the salary of a mid-first round pick.

Rated a four-star prospect by Rivals, Mullins signed with UConn out of Greenfield-Central High School in Indiana. He chose the Huskies over Michigan, North Carolina, Indiana and Alabama.
As a freshman, Mullins averaged 12 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1 steal in 33 games with the Huskies. He shot 34% on 215 3-point attempts, though the consensus is that his skill should result in a higher percentage next season.
He scored 24 points in a 103-98 overtime win versus Providence for his best performance of the season, hitting 6-of-10 3-pointers. His scoring high in the NCAA tournament was 17 points in a second-round win over UCLA. Mullins scored 10 points against Duke, 15 points in a Final Four win over Illinois and 11 points in a loss to Michigan in the national championship game.
