The Indiana Hoosiers have lost seven players in the transfer portal this offseason, but they’ve managed to secure the commitment of several new players via the portal, including a big one in former Alabama Crimson Tide big man Aiden Sherrell, as per Dushawn London of 247Sports.

Aiden Sherrell’s commitment brings Indiana’s current transfer portal haul to six players. That group also includes guard Jaeden Mustaf, guard Markus Burton, forward Darren Harris, center Samet Yigitoglu, and the also recently committed Bryce Lindsay.

Sherrell joins Indiana coming off a career season at Alabama. After coming off the bench during his freshman year, Sherrell moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore, appearing in 34 games at a little over 23 minutes per game. He averaged a career-high 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists with splits of 53.9 percent shooting from the field, 33.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line and 71.3 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

Sherrell will likely be on pace to start at power forward or even center for the Hoosiers next season. He was a former five-star recruit and one of the best big man prospects in his class. He‘s an efficient big man in the paint and has shown the ability to shoot the ball as well.

Indiana is coming off their first season under head coach Darian DeVries. The Hoosiers finished 18-14 overall, and only 9-11 in Big Ten Conference play. Indiana is looking to snap a streak of three consecutive seasons of missing the NCAA Tournament. DeVries was tapped to lead the program following the departure of Mike Woodson. Woodson had been at the helm for four seasons.
