Another Metamora standout enters NCAA college basketball transfer portal

South Dakota freshman Jonah Funk has entered the NCAA men’s basketball transfer portal.

The former Metamora all-stater redshirted during the 2025-26 season. He has four years of eligibility remaining. Funk posted on social media Tuesday that he was leaving The Summit League program.

Funk, a 6-foot-10 forward, helped Metamora play for a 2025 Class 3A sectional championship. During that senior season, he averaged 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks for the Redbirds, who finished 28-7 and won the Mid-Illini Conference. He was named all-Mid-Illini first team and a 2025 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association all-state third team.

South Dakota went 16-16 overall and 8-8 in The Summit League. The Coyotes qualified for the Summit League Tournament, losing to Omaha in the quarterfinals. Former Metamora players and brothers, Ethan and Caleb Kizer, were on the SD roster this season.
