When: Thursday, November 5

Where: Jack Breslin Students Event Center, East Lansing, Michigan

Toledo

The Rockets have a staple of the MAC under head coach Tod Kowalczyk, winning seven regular season titles since 2010 and looking for a 10th straight winning season.

Despite all the success, Toledo has not made an NCAA Tournament since 1980, with four heartbreaking losses in the MAC Championship game under Kowalczyk.

This season is no different, with the Rockets selected No. 2 in the MAC preseason poll led by a veteran core with two preseason all-MAC selections in Austin Parks and Sean Jones.

Toledo lost its season opener Monday night 71-70 to Arkansas State.

Michigan State

Sparty has some big expectations this season with 60.2% of scoring from last year returning and a top 10 AP ranking to begin the year. Jeremy Fears is the alpha of this team, running the point and was named the preseason Big Ten Player of the Year.

Tom Izzo has been the pinnacle of success with the most consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances ever at 28 (and counting) and wins at one school among others. They started the season well with a 96-59 thumping of Quinnipiac Monday night.

The Spartans have a huge opportunity with this year’s Final Four being held in Detroit, less than 100 miles from campus. The last time the Final Four was in Detroit? Michigan State made a run to the title games, losing to North Carolina in 2009.
