“He’s got a nice little game” – Chris Mullin was impressed by Justin Bieber’s basketball skills

Justin Bieber has spent much of his life under the spotlight, but the pop superstar has another passion outside music: basketball. From earning an MVP award at an NBA All-Star celebrity game to sharing the court with Los Angeles’ basketball community, Bieber has repeatedly shown that his love for the game is more than just a celebrity hobby.

In fact, even some NBA legends have taken notice. Among them was five-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Famer Chris Mullin.

Bieber’s basketball reputation received an unexpected boost during the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend. At just 16 years old, the Canadian singer joined a celebrity roster featuring NBA stars, entertainers and athletes.

Although his team lost 54-59, Justin scored eight points, dished out four assists and grabbed two rebounds. After the game, Mullin admitted that he was impressed by Bieber’s skills.

“He’s got a nice little game,” Mullin said of Bieber at the time via ESPN. “But more importantly, he’s got great passion. It looked like he loves the game.”

Bieber is a solid Lakers and Kobe fan

Growing up, Bieber became a devoted Los Angeles Lakers fan. Unsurprisingly, Kobe Bryant was one of his favorite players.

Despite his demanding schedule, Justin has consistently found ways to keep the game close. Like any other hooper, JB would touch a basketball wherever and whenever he could.

“Whenever there is downtime, I love to play,” Bieber said of his love for basketball.

“I definitely do not play as much as I’d like to, but I’ll play with the crew when we are on tour and I’ll shoot around more often when I’m home,” he added. “As long as I can continue to cross up my [friend] Alfredo [Flores], all is right in the world.”
