ACC Roundup: Cal Slips By Radford

Only one game Wednesday, as Cal got by Radford, 84-70, behind a 30-point game from Pitt transfer Nojus Indrusaitis.

Good thing, because Radford was in this game until late. This was a one-point game with 12:37 to play, and the Bears didn’t get much separation until Indrusaitis hit a three-pointer with 8:38 to play that put Cal up 65-56.

We’ll see where things go from here, and a win is a win, but it’s probably not what Cal was hoping for.

Six games on the schedule Thursday, as Wake visits Vanderbilt, Mercer goes up to Virginia Tech, Mercyhurst visits Notre Dame, Syracuse welcomes the Blue Devils (the Central Connecticut Blue Devils, that is), Buffalo slides down to Pittsburgh, and VMI takes on SMU.

Obviously the most interesting game is Wake at Vandy, and we think Wake might do better than people expect.

Otherwise, we like Virginia Tech over Mercer, the Irish over whoever Mercyhurst is, and Syracuse over Central Connecticut. There’s no particular reason why Buffalo should beat Pitt.

Same goes for VMI at SMU, but for some reason, we have a funny feeling about that game. There’s no logical reason for it, but we’ll see.

By the way, VMI coach Andrew Wilson played at FSU for Leonard Hamilton.
