Boston College basketball player leapfrogs MIT defender on fastbreak dunk

The Boston College Eagles beat the MIT Engineers, 90-46, on Sunday. Senior guard Armoni Zeigler played 23 minutes off the bench. While he only scored eight points in the game, one of his baskets will undoubtedly go down as one of the coolest dunks of the entire college basketball season.

Zeigler stole the ball on one end and took off for a one-handed slam. While the dunk was not contested at the rim, MIT’s Eric Wentz did experience the misfortune of getting dunked on. Wentz caught up to Zeigler right as he was about to jump. He swiped at the ball, but missed. Then his momentum carried him forward as Zeigler jumped up and over him.

College basketball’s first dunk of the year

This is a devastating thing to happen to you on a basketball court. The crowd went wild. Children started to run onto the court.

All Wentz could do was put his hands on his head as he knew that he had been posterized in the most disrespectful manner. It was unintentional, but devastating. And the fact that it was an and-one? If the game had just continued, he might not have had the chance to truly contemplate the incredible moment he had just been involved in.

This was all very unfortunate for MIT. You don’t go to MIT to get dunked on. You don’t sign up for the MIT basketball team expecting a kid from Boston College to literally leapfrog you in the middle of an exhibition. MIT is where you go to get a great job. The school’s mascot is a beaver because it is nature’s engineer, not nature’s best athlete.
