Alabama vs. Auburn recap, highlights from thrilling preseason win

One of college basketball’s greatest rivalries was renewed Thursday night as the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers collided inside Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

This latest chapter of the “IBOB” rivalry was a bit different than previous meetings though, as it was not only played on a neutral court, but it was also a preseason exhibition game. Because of this, the result did not count as a win or loss on either team’s 2026-27 resume.

In the third time Nate Oats and Steven Pearl have met as head coaches dating back to last season, it was Alabama who got the best of Auburn once again Thursday night in a chippy contest, winning 87-85. Despite missing a few players, as well as struggles on the boards and at the free throw line, the Crimson Tide used some big makes late to pull ahead for the lead, and ended the preseason with a big win over their in-state rival.

Amari Allen led the Crimson Tide with 23 points, while freshman Qayden Samuels was right behind him with 20. Tarris Bouie also finished with 14 points, while Keitenn Bristow played huge minutes, finishing just shy of a double-double.

Following is a recap and highlights from the Crimson Tide’s thrilling preseason win over Auburn in “The Feud.”
