Vols Were Easier Than Expected. Kansas? Won’t Be That Simple.

In an interesting way, Duke’s preseason has moved from easy (Belmont), to theoretically more challenging (Tennessee), to suddenly much more difficult this Sunday (at Kansas).

Kansas would already be a real challenge with familiar faces like Tre White, Kohl Rosario, Dennis Parker, and Melvin Council. That should be more difficult by far than either Belmont or Tennessee proved to be.

And also, if you didn’t know, the Jayhawks picked up former Blue Devil Christian Reeves, who did well last season at College of Charleston.

And just this week, Kansas added Trey Kaufman-Renn, who had an outstanding career at Purdue.

Kansas also has a pretty good shot at matching Duke’s size, with the 7-2 Reeves, 7-0 Grant Mordini, 7-0 Paul Mbiya, 6-10 Davion Adkins, and the 6-9 Kaufman-Renn. And of course, they have perhaps the best freshman in the nation in 6-8 Tyran Stokes.

We’ll do a full preview closer to Sunday, but for now, we just wanted to touch on this game a bit, because it should be a good bit tougher than Tennessee was, whether or not Kaufman-Renn plays (like a lot of players this year, his eligibility is in the hands of a judge), and a good bit more interesting as well.
