While it’s only the preseason, Duke basketball appears to be unstoppable. In their first scrimmage against Belmont, Duke dominated from start to finish, earning a 40-point victory (102-62). More of the same occurred Tuesday night, as Duke scored 103 points to defeat the Tennessee Volunteers 103-64.
Freshman point guard Deron Rippey Jr. was the star, leading the Blue Devils with 21 points off the bench on 9-for-12 shooting to go along with three assists and three steals. Transfer student John Blackwell was efficient as well, dropping 18 points on 4-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Dame Sarr (15 points), Patrick Ngongba II (13 points), Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje (11 points) and Sebastian Wilkins (11 points) all finished in double-digits as well.

Duke’s starting lineup featured Blackwell, Sarr, Ngongba II, Boumtje-Boumtje and Cayden Boozer, the same lineup that started against Belmont. Every Duke player saw the court except Drew Scharnowski and Caleb Foster, who are currently sidelined due to injury.
The Blue Devils will face Kansas on the road, Sunday, Oct. 25, their final preseason scrimmage.
