Bucks waive Kevin Porter Jr.

Minutes before the 4:00 p.m. deadline to finalize their regular season roster, it was announced that the Milwaukee Bucks waived Kevin Porter Jr. This brings the final roster size to 15 after the weekend saw the Bucks waive several other players, including Pete Nance. The 26-year-old’s waiving comes after a snake-bitten year—in the 2025-2026 campaign KPJ was only able to suit-up for 36 games, but he started all 36 to the tune of 17.4 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 7.4 APG.

Houston sent a protected second-round pick for Porter, and the new franchise seemed to be a better fit as Porter showed major growth the next few seasons.

The Rockets then traded him and two first-round picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where they absorbed his contract and waived him immediately. KPJ then spent a year playing in Greece and was able to enter a plea deal, pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault. Following his overseas stint, KPJ signed a two-year vet minimum deal with the Clippers, where he played the season before being traded to the Bucks.

After opting into his player option, KPJ was set to earn $5.39 million this season before becoming free agent. While unfortunate, the log jam in the guard room was well documented, and with the additions of Tyler Herro, Brayden Burries, and Kasparas Jakucionis, as well as the emergence of Ryan…
