Trey Kaufman-Renn is joining Kansas, giving Bill Self’s Jayhawks a proven frontcourt scorer with extensive Big Ten and NCAA Tournament experience. Kansas announced the addition Monday with a “Welcome to the fam, TKR” post, and ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported that Kaufman-Renn had signed with the program. He arrives after five seasons at Purdue and a court ruling that allows him to pursue another year of college eligibility while his case against the NCAA continues.

Kaufman-Renn gives Kansas a productive veteran forward

Kaufman-Renn averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in 2025-26, his final season at Purdue. He shot 57.8% from the field and appeared in 37 games. Across his Boilermakers career, the 6-foot-9 forward played 147 games and made 112 starts.

That resume gives Kansas a player who can contribute as a scorer and rebounder from the start. Kaufman-Renn can finish near the basket, create opportunities for teammates and provide a physical presence on the glass. His experience also gives Self another option with a long track record in high-pressure college games.

The addition is particularly notable because Kaufman-Renn played for a Purdue program that reached three consecutive Elite Eights. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2025 and an honorable mention All-American, establishing himself as one of the conference’s most productive forwards.
