NBA referee Bill Kennedy is known for his sideline theatrics, and he’s used to being the star of the show when announcing whether a coach’s challenge has succeeded or failed.

Enter Steph Curry.

The Warriors star took the opportunity to practice his golf swing during a review on Friday night at Chase Center, and Kennedy couldn’t help but notice his big reveal was being upstaged.

Curry is an avid golfer and gets his practice swing in wherever he can — which often includes the basketball court during timeouts, in pregame warmups and even as a celebration. But Golden State’s point guard should have known Kennedy was bound to call him out, even if it was through a simple, yet hilarious, side-eye and point of his thumb.

The longtime NBA official has a knack for turning replay rulings into viral moments and is widely respected. He also is the league’s second openly gay official and was announced as an inductee into the 2026 LGBTQ Sports Hall of Fame class in January of this year.

Kennedy’s rulings alone are pure comedy, but adding Curry’s nonchalant stardom into the mix made for an all-timer on Friday night.
