One Texas A&M basketball game pays more than a year of ticket sales

Texas A&M will spend $815,000 to bring eight nonconference men’s basketball opponents to Reed Arena during the 2026–27 season. While the Aggies pay to fill out their home schedule, the schools making those trips stand to gain plenty financially.

For programs like Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Monroe, one game against an SEC opponent can bring in more money than an entire year’s worth of basketball ticket sales, as both schools will receive $100,000 for their November matchups against Texas A&M, according to contracts Aggies Wire obtained through a public-records request.

To put those numbers into perspective, Southeastern Louisiana reported just $36,333 in men’s basketball ticket revenue during the 2025 fiscal year, according to its NCAA financial report. The program also collected $370,911 in guarantee revenue from road games.

That means Southeastern’s upcoming payday against the Aggies is nearly three times what the program generated in ticket sales during that previous fiscal year. Southeastern is one of eight programs receiving guaranteed payments from Texas A&M this season, with individual payouts ranging from $95,000 to $110,000.

Louisiana-Monroe is in a similar position. The Warhawks reported $51,915 in men’s basketball ticket revenue and $225,000 in guarantee revenue during FY2025. Their $100,000 payment for facing Texas A&M on Nov. 9 is nearly double their previous annual ticket revenue and equivalent to more than 44% of their reported guarantee revenue.

Those numbers help explain why games against major-conference opponents can be financially attractive, even when the visiting team faces a difficult matchup.
