Wisconsin’s LaTrevion Fenderson to focus on academics, not play in 2026-27

MADISON – Wisconsin men’s basketball will not have another one of its freshmen on the court in 2026-27.

LaTrevion Fenderson will focus on academics and not play as a freshman, UW coach Greg Gard told reporters after the Badgers’ exhibition win over UW-Parkside.

“So that’s why he is not going to dress all year,” Gard said.

Fenderson, a Racine native, was one of the highest-rated recruits in the state in the 2026 recruiting class. He played at The Prairie School before transferring to DME Academy at St. John’s Northwestern in Delafield for his senior season.
