Nikola Jokić dazzles with behind-the-back pass down the baseline that you have to see to believe

Nikola Jokić is already doing Nikola Jokić things.

The do-everything three-time MVP center was in action for the Denver Nuggets for a preseason game against the Utah Jazz Sunday night. Playing up the road from Denver on the University of Colorado’s campus, Jokić uncorked this beauty for the Boulder home crowd.

Wait, what?!

Being able to imagine that pass to begin with is remarkable. There’s probably nobody else in the NBA who would even think about it, much less consider executing it. And then Jokić did exactly just that.

He threw a no-look, behind the-back pass from one 3-point corner to the other directly down the baseline, bypassing three Jazz defenders in the process. Cam Johnson then made good on the sorcery, hoisting a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer that sank through the net.

Jokić, meanwhile, was already head back on defense while Johnson’s shot was in the air, correctly confident in the play’s success.

It was a thing of basketball beauty from a meaningless basketball game that counts for nothing. But thankfully, it was caught on camera to inspire awe among the lovers of the game.

And soon enough, those passes will count. The Nuggets open their season in an Oct. 22 matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder that will certainly matter.
