The Duke Blue Devils always seem to add talented freshmen, and they did it again! No. 2 ranked-international prospect Luke Paul has committed to the Duke men’s basketball team for the 2027-2028 season
The Australian point guard is 6’6 and can impact the games in multiple ways. He led Australia to a bronze medal at the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup, where he averaged 15.3 PPG, 7.1 assists, and 6.4 rebounds. Paul is currently a member of Australia’s NBL Next Stars program and is playing for the Cairns Taipans. Lamelo Ball and Josh Giddey also played in the Next Stars program. Former NBA players Cole Anthony, Joe Ingles, and John Jenkins III are playing in the NBL right now.

His ability to stretch the floor and distribute the ball is what makes him such a highly touted player. He’ll get a chance to play against top talent in the NBL and know what it’s like to play against grown men.

He’s a projected lottery pick for the 2028 NBA Draft, shot 55.6% from three at the FIBA U17 World Cup, and he’ll get all the exposure he needs playing for a storied program like Duke.
