Kentucky Wildcat News: Injury onslaught continues for UK Basketball

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball season tip-off is only a few days away as the Cats will take the floor at Rupp Arena on Friday night for Big Blue Madness.

Mark Pope’s first two seasons have been up and down, but one thing has been constant: Injuries.

The first season, it was Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, Kerr Kriisa, and Andrew Carr who battled injuries.

Last season, it was Jaland Lowe and Jayden Quaintance who went down for the season, while Kam Williams and Mo Dioubate also missed time.

Before this season tips off, several Cats have already battled some injuries.

Williams is still working his way back from a second foot surgery. Milan Momcilovic hurt a finger on his shooting hand, Trent Noah suffered a significant hamstring injury, and now Jerone Moton can be added to the list with a knee injury sustained in practice.

Luckily, nothing seems serious enough to play a major factor in the regular season, but the fact that they have already started is definitely unsettling. At some point, chalking all of this up to ‘bad luck’ just can’t be a real excuse anymore.

Now, we just hope they all stay away and give Pope his first fully healthy team in his tenure.
