Milan Momcilovic is close to returning from injury for Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky Basketball is hosting its annual Media Day on Monday, where head coach Mark Pope is updating the status of his team entering the 2026-27 season. That included a host of injury updates, the most significant being on Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic.

Over the summer, Momcilovic suffered a severely jammed finger on his shooting hand that was even reported as a broken finger at one point.

After being sidelined for a bit, Kentucky posted a picture of Momcilovic seemingly returning to practice last week, but he still hasn’t been fully cleared for all activities.

Thankfully, Pope announced on Monday that Momcilovic is expected to be cleared to fully practice next week. That would suggest we could see him in action when the exhibition season opens vs. Little Rock on October 16.

The 6-foot-9, 225-pound Momcilovic has been the best 3-point shooter in college basketball over the last two seasons, and Kentucky is hoping that continues in Lexington.

This past season, he averaged 16.9 points on 50.6% shooting, including 48.7% on 7.5 3-point attempts per game, along with 3.1 rebounds and one assist per game.

Here’s to hoping Momcilovic is fully healthy and ready to rock when regular-season play begins November 3 vs. Manhattan.
