Kansas’ New-Look Roster Is Starting to Take Shape

Kansas basketball’s new-look roster is starting to take shape as the Jayhawks get closer to the 2026-27 season.

After an offseason filled with roster movement, Bill Self now has a better idea of what his team will look like. Kansas added several new players through the transfer portal and recruiting, while also bringing back an important piece in Tre White.

The Jayhawks’ current roster includes 14 players, with a mixture of freshmen, transfers and returning players. That gives Self plenty of options as he works to determine the best combinations before the season begins.

The biggest addition is freshman Tyran Stokes, who enters Kansas as the No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-8 guard brings versatility, athleticism and scoring ability to a roster that will rely heavily on his production.

Stokes averaged 31 points, 13 rebounds and six assists per game during his final high school season and helped lead Rainier Beach to a state championship. He also has experience playing for USA Basketball, giving him a significant amount of high-level experience before arriving in Lawrence.

Kansas also added veteran experience through the transfer portal.

Keanu Dawes arrives from Utah and gives Kansas another experienced option in the frontcourt. Dennis Parker Jr. is another important addition after making a major jump at Radford last season, where he averaged 18.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 37.7% from three-point range.

The Jayhawks also have several young players competing for roles. Taylen Kinney, Leroy Blyden Jr., Kohl Rosario and Luke Barnett give Kansas options in the backcourt, while players such as Davion Adkins, Grant Mordini and Atticus Richmond add depth to the frontcourt.

Then there is White.

After earning an injunction that allows him to pursue a fifth season, White is back with the Jayhawks. He started every game last season and averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 40.3% from three-point range. His return gives…
