Warriors sign star Steph Curry to reported two-year, $116M contract extension originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Warriors might not have made many moves this offseason, but they made the most important one on Friday evening.

Golden State signed superstar point guard Steph Curry agreed to a contract extension, the team announced.
The new deal is for two years, $116 million and includes a player option for the 2028-29 NBA season, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Friday, citing sources.
Curry became eligible for an extension of up to two years and $136.7 million on Aug. 29 coming off his current one-year, $62.6 million expiring deal. But he took $20 million less to continue his career in the Bay.
After the Warriors missed the playoffs following an up-and-down 2025-26 season, there was speculation, as there always is, that Curry could look elsewhere and be more competitive as he reaches the tail end of his career.

But the speculation was just that, as the two-time NBA MVP will continue in Year 18 with the only NBA team he’s known.
And, like the rest of the team, he could return with a vengeance.
Curry missed nearly 30 games over two months dealing with runner’s knee. His co-star, Jimmy Butler, also dealt with his own injury, although it was a season-ending ACL injury in January.
There is strong belief within the organization that had Curry and Butler not been injured, the Warriors’ 2025-26 season would have ended much differently.
But the past is the past. Curry and his Dubs now are focused on the present and getting back to the top of the West.

Last season, Curry averaged 26.6 points on 46.8-percent shooting from the field and 39.3 percent from 3-point range, with 3.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 34 minutes through 43 games.
