Jericho Sims had the best year of his career over the 2025-26 campaign, playing as the Bucks’ backup center. Averaging 5.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 1.6 APG, Sims was the gritty, athletic rim-runner who put in the dirty work. He earned himself increased playing time by showing his willingness to hustle and fight for boards on one of the league’s worst rebounding teams. Especially as starting center Myles Turner struggled to convert in Milwaukee’s choppy offense, Sims got more first-team reps and started nine of Milwaukee’s final 12 games.
Sims is one of the league’s best rim finishers, with world-class athleticism, great strength, a huge wingspan, and a tireless motor. Despite being relatively small for an NBA center at 6’10,” he scored on 83.4% of his attempts at the rim. Sims was also used heavily for his plus rebounding, especially on the offensive end, where he hauled in 2.2 offensive rebounds per contest. Sims also struggled with foul trouble much of the time and got called for a crazy number of illegal screens.
This season, the 27-year-old will find it much harder to get first-team reps following the arrival of Kel’el Ware. Ware is younger, has a perimeter game, is a better defender, and is a more willing rebounder, meaning there isn’t a real argument for Sims to get more minutes than Ware.
Although he opted into a $2.8m player option this summer, Sims is also reportedly a trade option for the Bucks as they look to clear cap space and accumulate even more draft capital. The Lakers and Knicks have shown interest in acquiring him as a high-energy, versatile backup.
