ESPN Analyst Chris Spatola, Son-In-Law Of Coach K, Has Died Unexpectedly At 47

ESPN sadly confirmed Tuesday that college basketball analyst Chris Spatola has passed away unexpectedly. He was 47 years old.

Spatola, who joined ESPN in 2015, has provided analysis and in-game commentary on men’s college hoops. Prior to becoming an announcer, he was a four-year starter at West Point, ranking No. 10 all-time in career points.

In addition to being a standout guard, Spatola served in the Army from 2002 to 2007. He was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

“Chris Spatola brought a unique perspective to ESPN’s college basketball coverage, shaped by his experiences as a student-athlete, Army veteran, coach and broadcaster,” ESPN said in a statement. “He was thoughtful, prepared and passionate about the sport, earning the respect of colleagues, coaches, players and fans alike. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.”
