Draymond Green calls the Air Jordan 1 “one of the worst basketball shoes ever created”

When it comes to sneaker lore, no sneaker has more aura than the Air Jordan 1. Aside from its rich history as Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe with Nike, it has become a fashion staple after the Swoosh first brought them back in retro form in the early 2000s, up to modern day. From beloved OG colorways to new ones that pop a little more with their color combos, the AJ1 is a definite fan-favorite amongst die-hard shoe collectors or even the casuals.

However, one NBA player who isn’t a fan of wearing them on the basketball court is Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green, who went as far as saying they are “one of the worst basketball shoes ever created.”

Draymond can’t get over how bad the AJ1s are 

Unlike today’s high-tech sneakers, the AJ1 kept it barebones simple. The shoe is made of either leather or synthetic leather, solid rubber, and some foam. The composition is completely understandable, given the lack of advancements in the sneaker space a few decades ago. Jordan, though, made the most out of those sneakers and dominated the NBA.

Green, though, couldn’t get over how bad the AJ1s were to wear on the basketball court.

“You’ve probably worn a pair of Jordan 1s just like I’ve worn a pair of Jordan 1s,” he told LaVar Ball. “One of the worst basketball shoes ever created.”

Draymond clarified that just like any hooper or sneakerhead, he loves to wear the AJ1 but only for fashion purposes. But for performance basketball? Forget about it!

“I love wearing Jordan 1s. It’s one of the best shoes to put on with a fit,” Green stressed. “But as far as a basketball shoe, you never see anyone playing in Jordan 1s anymore unless they’re trying to make a fashion statement.”
