Duke’s non-conference schedule ranked among toughest in college basketball

Ahead of the 2026-27 NCAA season, college basketball expert Andy Katz revealed his list ranking the 10 most difficult non-conference schedules in the country. Unsurprisingly, Duke basketball ranked quite high, coming in at No. 2 on the list. Throughout the years, head coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils haven’t shied away from playing some of the best programs in the country.

This season, Duke will have plenty of non-conference tests, with big games against Michigan State, Illinois, UConn, Florida, Georgia, Texas Tech and Gonzaga. Having finished 35-3 a season ago, it will once again take an incredible effort from the Blue Devils in games like these to earn another No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Of the nine other schools on Katz’ list, five are scheduled to play the Blue Devils. Arkansas, Arizona, Kentucky and Kansas fill out the rest of the rankings.
