Kansas will enter Saturday’s matchup against Arizona State with several important players dealing with injuries, according to the latest Big 12 availability report and injury updates from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
The biggest name is linebacker Bam Crouch, who Thamel previously reported as doubtful after suffering a shoulder injury in Kansas’ season opener against LIU. Crouch missed Kansas’ loss to Missouri, but his status has since improved heading into the Arizona State matchup. The latest availability report lists Crouch as questionable, giving the Jayhawks at least some possibility of having one of their most experienced defenders back on the field.

Crouch transferred to Kansas from Boston College during the offseason and was expected to play a major role in the Jayhawks’ defense. He recorded two tackles and a sack before leaving the season opener with the injury. His potential return would give Kansas another experienced player in the middle of its defense against an Arizona State offense that scored 70 points in its season opener.
On offense, Cam Pickett is also listed as questionable. Pickett has been dealing with a leg injury and missed Kansas’ first two games. He was expected to be one of Isaiah Marshall’s primary targets entering the season after leading Kansas with 45 receptions for 476 yards and three touchdowns in 2025.
Carson Bruhn is another Kansas player listed as questionable. The redshirt sophomore tight end is dealing with an undisclosed injury. Bruhn could provide another option for Marshall if he is cleared to play Saturday. The latest availability report identifies Pickett, Crouch and Bruhn as questionable.
The Jayhawks also have a significant concern at quarterback. Cole Ballard is listed as doubtful after suffering a shoulder injury during Kansas’ 38-21 loss to Missouri. Ballard was seen with his right arm in a sling during the fourth quarter and did not practice Monday, according to reports.
