5-Star Recruit Antonio Pemberton Commits to Michigan State

Point Guard University strikes again.

As Tom Izzo enters his 32nd season coaching at Michigan State, he continues to prove that his recruiting prowess has not slowed down. In fact, it has been on full display throughout the offseason.

The newest recruiting win for Izzo is one of the biggest yet.

Five-star point guard Antonio Pemberton of Masters Academy International in Hanover, Massachusetts, has committed to Michigan State, giving the Spartans another elite piece for the future.

Pemberton stands at 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds and possesses exceptional skill with the basketball in his hands. According to ESPN’s SportsCenter NEXT Top 100, Pemberton is ranked No. 27 nationally in the 2027 recruiting class, where he is listed as a four-star prospect.

247Sports also lists Pemberton as a four-star recruit, giving him a 97 rating. He is ranked as the No. 20 player in the class, the No. 5 point guard and the No. 1 prospect in Massachusetts.

However, when combining the major recruiting services, Pemberton’s consensus ranking elevates him into five-star territory.

His consensus rating currently sits at an impressive 0.9918, ranking him as the No. 23 overall player in the nation in the 2027 class. He remains the No. 5 point guard and the No. 1 prospect in Massachusetts.

For Izzo, another elite commitment is simply the latest example of his continued success on the recruiting trail.

Izzo Keeps Adding Elite Talent

Izzo’s 2026 recruiting class already ranks among the nation’s top 10 classes and will soon have an opportunity to make its mark in East Lansing.

Jasiah Jervis, Carlos Medlock Jr., Julius Avent and Ethan Taylor make up the core of that class, with all four players ranked in the SportsCenter NEXT Top 100 for the 2026 class.

Now, Izzo has immediately turned his attention toward 2027.
