MSU basketball to play traditional MVC power this season

Michigan State basketball is set to host one of the top programs from the Missouri Valley Conference over the last decade this season.

Another non-conference matchup for the Spartans has been announced, as the Drake Bulldogs revealed they will be coming to the Breslin Center in early December. The Bulldogs released their official non-conference schedule for the upcoming season this week, which noted a road game at Michigan State on December 5.

Game time and viewing details for this matchup has not yet been released.

Drake has reached the NCAA Tournament in four of the last six seasons, with each of their two previous head coaches now holding positions in the Big Ten (Ben McCollum at Iowa and Darian DeVries at Indiana). The Bulldogs had one of their worst seasons in the last decade last year, finishing 14-20 in new head coach Eric Henderson’s first year.

This will mark the fourth time these two programs have played each other, but the first meeting in over 60 years. Drake holds a 2-1 overall record advantage against the Spartans, with their last meeting coming in 1965.
