The BYU Cougars basketball program has been able to pull in several blue-chip talents since Kevin Young took over in Provo. AJ Dybantsa and Egor Demin developed into NBA lottery picks, while Bruce Branch III and Rob Wright III are waiting for their opportunity in the coming years. One of the nation’s top-ranked combo guards in the 2028 recruiting class will soon be eyeing BYU as his next stop.
Five-star Brady Pettigrew has locked in an official visit to BYU on Oct. 30, according to college basketball insider Sam Kayser. BYU will be one of nine stops on his tour around the country, which includes most of the upper elites in college basketball.

Young and the Cougars present an interesting case to secure Pettigrew, who would be a perfect fit in the uptempo offense. With that said, Wright is likely off to the NBA after this year and he could be a great replacement.
Here’s Pettigrew scheduled visits as of now:
Michigan: September 12th
Indiana: September 19th
Florida: September 25th
Illinois: October 2nd
North Carolina: October 9th
Kentucky: October 23rd
BYU: October 30th
Ohio State: November 6th
Arkansas: January 1st
Out of this list, BYU has a legitimate chance to land Pettigrew. Michigan is in the midst of a transition after Dusty May left for the Dallas Mavericks. They’re months removed from winning a championship. But also most of the talent left at the same time May did. Indiana is second-closest to home for Pettigrew.

Florida and Todd Golden are on a path to compete every year. Illinois is the hometown favorite for Pettigrew. UNC and Mike Malone will operate like an NBA team in the new era. Let’s hope it’s better than the Belichick experiment happening across campus.
We know how Mark Pope’s time in Kentucky has gone since leaving Provo. Ohio State is trying to break through as a basketball school. Arkansas and John Calipari always have strong guard play.
