Fever enter FIBA break with win against Sun after dominant second quarter

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever were down nine points at the end of the first quarter after scoring 19 points on 28.6% shooting.

They were up 15 at halftime.

Indiana scored 39 points in the second quarter in its 111-91 win over the Connecticut Sun. The Fever shot 71.4% from the field.

Fever guard Caitlin Clark hit a 25-foot step-back 3-pointer 27 seconds into the second quarter. Clark collected a steal on the ensuing defensive possession and scored a driving layup.

“It’s contagious to the team,” Clark said when referencing her consistent run of play. Clark posted her second straight 30-point, 10-assist games after she registered 34 points and 12 assists against the Sun. “Especially in the second quarter, I was able to get a 3 and then get a steal and get us going a little bit. There’s so much more that I can do in so many areas. I can continue to get better. But I feel like I’m in my groove a little bit.”
