Chicago Bulls’ Plan to Replace Late Broadcaster Stacey King Revealed

The Chicago Bulls are preparing for their season opener on Oct. 21 in Toronto against the Raptors on the practice courts and in the training room, in hopes of scoring an opening game victory against an Eastern Conference foe in a similar position.

The Bulls are also working to improve things off the court heading into the 2026-27 season, including in the broadcast booth where a replacement is needed for former player and broadcaster Stacey King, who died on June 7, 2026 after a fall at his home in River Forest, Ill.

On Friday, a roadmap to replace King was laid out, painting the picture of a multi-faceted approach to replace the legendary Bulls gameday voice.

The Bulls plan to use a rotating cast of voices to fill in for King, according to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel and Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports. 

Former Purdue Boilermakers star forward and Big Ten basketball color analyst Robbie Hummel, who has filled in on Bulls broadcasts previously, is up for consideration, along with other unnamed personalities who are known among Chicago Bulls fans. 

The rotating cast of color analysts is expected to join play-by-play man Adam Amin, who is expected to reprise his role when the Bulls begin the 2026-27 season.

King, a three-time NBA champion who played alongside Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Michael Jordan, Steve Kerr and other familiar Bulls players during their magical run in the early 1990s, was a beloved figure in Chicago, known for his colorful nicknames of Bulls players. 

King had carved out a role for himself on Bulls broadcasts since 2004, when he first started. He became more involved with the team’s telecasts three years later in 2007 before becoming a mainstay in millions…
