On Sunday night, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark had one of her most impressive performances of the season, scoring 37 points and dishing out 10 assists to help lead her team to a 113-90 victory over the Dallas Wings. However, one longtime WNBA announcer was not impressed by what she saw from the point guard.
Former Phoenix Mercury announcer Cindy Brunson, who still covers Pac-12 football and men’s basketball as a sideline reporter and women’s basketball as a play-by-play announcer, felt that Clark was “stat padding” in an already decided game, and wasn’t shy about making it known how she felt.

I’d chase the assists lead and add to a category she singularly dominates if I were her too. 30-10 is a very cool stat which leads to the second erroneous part of your little hit piece. When I compared Caitlin Clark’s mastery of 30-10’s to AT’s triple-double domination, and cited a small sample size, I was merely referring to the number of games played between the 2 players. Alyssa Thomas has maintained her triple-double dominance for YEARS and CC has only been playing for 2.5 hence the…
