Kevin Durant claims Brooklyn Nets were ‘obviously’ best team he played on over Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors with Kevin Durant are widely considered to be the most stacked team in NBA history. But KD himself thinks it was his best roster.

Kevin Durant’s move to the Golden State Warriors back in 2016 was one of the most unpopular decisions in NBA history. This was largely due to the fact that his addition made them virtually unstoppable.

The Warriors showed this almost instantly, too. The team won back-to-back NBA championships in ruthless fashion, barely losing any games on their way to winning it all.

Durant left the Warriors in 2019, but it wasn’t the last superteam he played on. And even though the Brooklyn Nets never got to the promised land, Durant thinks that roster was even more loaded.

Kevin Durant says Nets roster ‘on paper’ was better than the Warriors

When Brooklyn created the Big 3 involving KD, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, other veteran stars also joined in to be role players. In terms of talent, that team was incredible.

And Durant thinks that when just looking at the two rosters alone, the Nets had it better than even Golden State did during those peak years for the franchise.

“Looking at the straight roster and nothing else, I would say Brooklyn,” Durant said on Boardroom Talks. “Kyrie, James, Blake Griffin, Paul Millsap, Patty Mills.

“We had names on that team if we’re looking at straight paper. I know people are going to say the Warriors, but if you look at the team at that time, Steph was an MVP, but Klay and Draymond didn’t have the accolades at that time.

“They were like one-time All-Stars. These dudes I’m talking about had already completed their careers; they had all their accolades.”

Accolades alone cannot decide a player’s value but Durant has a fair point in terms of the names on that team. As good as they were, though, the Warriors in 2017 and 2018 were still in a different league altogether.
