For years, Bob Myers was instrumental in building up the Golden State Warriors to become the premier dynasty of the 2010s, but he admitted during a recent media appearance that if he had stayed in the Golden State front office past 2023, when he stepped down from his duties, things may have gone differently for his experience there.
Namely, Myers admitted that he thinks he would have let his emotions get the better of him and affect his decision making as an executive if he had to confront the decline of the dynasty that he helped create that has occurred over the past few seasons and may be reaching a head after a disappointing 2025-26 season and unproductive offseason.

“If I had to move off of Klay [Thompson], I might’ve had a hard time with that. If I had been there and had to do something with Draymond [Green] or Steph [Curry] or something like that, that would’ve been something personal because of what we went through together,” Myers said.

Myers’ response makes sense because of the relatively unique history that he had with the team.
The Warriors of the 2010 were unique in the sense that so many of them were home grow. Curry, Thompson and Green were all drafted by the Warriors, though only Green was drafted directly when Myers was general manager, though Thompson was drafted while Myers worked in the front office in a different capacity, and that crop of home grown talent grew to become a historically successful core.
For the most part, Myers saw them come up in the league together and essentially grow up as people and seemingly maintained good relationships with all of them throughout his time with the team, so there was a lot of sentimentality involved in his relationships with that core of players.
