Five-star PG names FSU basketball a top school, sets official visit

Luke Loucks elevated Florida State basketball’s recruiting during the 2026 cycle, and he is looking to do so once again in 2027. The Seminoles are pursuing several five-star prospects, and they got some good news in their efforts to land one of the best players in the country on Wednesday.

Five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry named them one of the top 14 schools in his recruitment. The Fort Lauderdale product is also considering the Iowa Hawkeyes, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, UConn Huskies, Michigan Wolverines, Arkansas Razorbacks, Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Providence Friars, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Villanova Wildcats.

He is ranked as the No. 10 overall player and No. 4 point guard in the 247Sports composite. 247Sports is even higher on him, ranking him as the No. 3 player in the country and the No. 2 point guard.

Daughtry is arguably Loucks’ top target in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and he has locked in an official visit with the Seminoles. According to Chris Nee of Noles247, he will be in Tallahassee this weekend for his official visit. That has become a critical weekend for FSU, with five-star small forward Moussa Kamissoko and four-star shooting guard Jarvis Hayes Jr. also set to visit.

The Seminoles were the first school to offer Daughtry a scholarship, doing so back on June 13, 2023, when Leonard Hamilton was still the head coach. Loucks has only increased their efforts and has them firmly in the mix for the 6-foot, 155-pounder. While he is expected to add more, his only other official visit currently scheduled is to see Iowa.
