Whiny Opponent Coach Makes Excuses Amid Duke Basketball Continued Success

It’s no secret that the Duke basketball program is one of the powerhouses of college basketball.

Even in the NIL era, which has seen several blue-blood programs come dangerously close to losing that title, Duke has been one of the few that have consistently operated at the highest level of the sport.

The Blue Devils saw no drawback after Jon Scheyer took over for Mike Krzyzewski, arguably the best head coach in the history of the sport. Despite Scheyer taking on maybe the most difficult success job in the sport’s history, he hasn’t missed a beat.

Opponent Coach Gives Blunt Answer on Duke’s Continued Success

Since Scheyer took over, the Blue Devils have remained a powerhouse both on the court and in the recruiting world. Duke has won three ACC Tournaments under Scheyer, back-to-back ACC regular-season and tournament titles, made the NCAA Tournament in all four years under Scheyer, reached two Elite Eights, and reached a Final Four.

Duke has also earned a 1-seed in two straight NCAA Tournaments.

Duke has sealed the nation’s No. 1 high school recruiting class three times under Scheyer, according to 247Sports, and has been in the top three nationally every year he has been at the helm.
