How NCAA Court Victory Impacts Key Duke Basketball Opponents

Chaos in the world of college sports continues to rage.

On Friday, the NCAA was granted a stay of an order that reverses a US District Court Judge’s class-wide eligibility ruling. The temporary injunction granted all high school class of 2022 athletes who finished their fourth season of eligibility this spring a fifth season of eligibility in 2026-27.

Now, this whole debacle is far from over. As of now, athletes who were depending on the blanket eligibility ruling to play next season are currently ineligible. However, athletes who received preliminary injunctions in a state court still maintain their eligibility.

This is all very messy, and with just about two weeks to go until the college football season, college sports are still in disarray. In the meantime, we might as well figure out if this affects the Duke basketball program in any way.

With this reversal, a few key additions that some of Duke’s high-profile opponents made this offseason are no longer (currently) eligible.
