Villanova transfer Duke Brennan commits to Oklahoma

Oklahoma has added another major piece to their roster ahead of the 2026-27 college basketball season. Villanova transfer center Duke Brennan has committed to the Sooners, giving Porter Moser one of the top remaining big men available in the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton reports.

Brennan recently received another year of eligibility, and he quickly became a player to watch on the late-summer transfer market. On3’s Joe Tipton previously reported that Ole Miss was making a “strong push” for Brennan, while Oklahoma and USC were also programs to know in his recruitment. This time, the Sooners ultimately won out.

Brennan is coming off an impressive season at Villanova, where he emerged as a consistent force in the Wildcats’ frontcourt. The 6-foot-10 big man started all 32 games and averaged a double-double with 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest. Now, he’ll take that production to Norman and the SEC.

Brennan’s return to college basketball comes amid an unusual offseason across the sport. Lawsuits throughout the country have paved the way for multiple players who previously exhausted their eligibility to receive an additional season. The timing created an interesting situation for players such as Brennan.

Many programs had already filled their rosters and committed the majority of their available NIL resources by the time additional players became eligible to return. Oklahoma, however, remained active and was searching for another big man to round out its roster. Brennan certainly checks that box.

His rebounding ability immediately gives the Sooners an experienced presence inside. Brennan exceeded expectations during his lone season at Villanova, establishing himself as one of the Big East’s better rebounders while providing reliable scoring around the basket.

Meanwhile, Villanova had already started reshaping its frontcourt under Kevin Willard. The Wildcats brought in Kwame Evans Jr.
