Recent reports say that former Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler is headed to BYU. However, Kentucky basketball is going to get their shot to impress him.
On Tuesday, a California court ruled that the class of 2022 athletes that were ruled eligible by a separate ruling can enter the transfer portal, and head to a different school. That includes Kohler, a Wildcats target.

Now, just a day after Kohler’s ability to transfer was upheld, Kentucky will host him on a Zoom call, according to Kentucky Sports Radio. The Cats have a talented frontcourt, but are short on experience, and could use a veteran who can rebound, but can also step outside and make shots.
Last season, Kohler averaged 12.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for Michigan State while making over 39% of his three-pointers. He’s also a very good free throw shooter who made nearly 87% of his freebies.
Landing Kohler would be a big win for a Kentucky team looking to bounce back from a disappointing year. It fills a big need, and catapults them even more into the national championship discussion. BYU is likely still the favorite, but Pope will get his shot to change his mind.
